Providing a Safe Supported Living Service in Brighton and Hove

At Sussex Empowered Living, we support individuals from varying backgrounds, which may include those who are being released from hospitals or prisons. With the support of our in-house Psychotherapist, Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Lead and PROACT-SCIPr-UK ® behavioural management instructors, we plan, coordinate and deliver a highly person-centred care package suitable for those who display risk-taking behaviours and behaviours which challenge others. It is through our innovative and robust approach to risk and behavioural management that we have become known as a key supported living provider in Brighton for individuals stepping down from in-patient or forensic settings.

Through the expertise and evidence-based support of Sussex Empowered Living, where necessary, individuals can benefit from the following:

  • A Positive Behaviour Support Team committed to reducing the frequency and severity of behaviours which challenge.
  • 24/7, out-of-hours, emergency on-call service.
  • Safe, functional housing (including ligature risk adapted).
  • Experience with MAPPA offenders or those released from prison on licence.
  • Experience with those subject to a guardianship order or individuals under DoLS.
  • Experience working in partnership with police, emergency departments/services and HMCS.
  • A formal, proactive approach to its service step downs.
  • A legal structure to prevent those under its support from needing to financially top up their property rent.
  • An Operations Director who is a qualified, experienced and practising Psychotherapist who uses her skills to inform her role and the support she provides Service Users and staff.
  • A monitoring approach that uses individuals’ progress towards independence as a key performance indicator.
